Living in Integrity

Are you living in integrity? Integrity is honest and within a moral code of sorts. Moral codes, of course, change person to person. So when I ask are you living in integrity, I'm asking whether you are living in a way that is honest to your personal morals.

Last week I asked what way you would live if money were no object. Now I'm asking that you consider whether you are living in integrity with your own belief systems. It's not always easy to define our beliefs, and there are many tests and exercises that can be done to find out what's most important to you. Surprisingly, you can be surprised by the outcomes of these assessments!
When we aren't acting in ways that are congruent with our own integrity we create a great deal of conflict in our psyche, which affects our emotional and physical state. When this goes on long term, it creates a low level of stress that, when left to simmer or grow, ends up causing further stress symptoms that can include low mood, tightness in he body, depression, anxiety and chronic disease.

If the things you do are in line with your personal values, your integrity, you feel good about what you're doing with your life and don't carry stress for that (you may have stress for a whole host of other issues, but not this one).
One simple test you can take right now is the Barrett Personal Values Assessment. It provides some insight into your values and a starting place to reflect on where you may not be living in alignment.

Linguine with Avocado

Ingredients

  1. 115g wholemeal linguine (whole grain)

  2. 1 lime, zested and juiced

  3. 1 avocado, stoned, peeled, and chopped

  4. 2 large ripe tomatoes, chopped

  5. ½ pack fresh coriander, chopped

  6. 1 red onion, finely chopped

  7. 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped (optional)

Directions

1. Cook the pasta according to pack instructions – about 10 mins. Meanwhile, put the lime juice and zest in a medium bowl with the avocado, tomatoes, coriander, onion and chilli, if using, and mix well
2. Drain the pasta, toss into the bowl and mix well. Serve straight away while still warm, or cold.
