Weekly Update November 24, 2019

What are you trying to accomplish in life. Have you made various types of goals to get there? Below I write about types of goals and one method of breaking it down.

COACHING

There are different types of goals with different time frames. Whatever the goal, we always start at the bottom and work our way to the top. Accomplishing short term goals keeps us motivated and inspired. These are the stepping stones that move us along the path.
Having too many of a particular kind of goal can have the effect of confusion and loss of direction. Here are some of these types:

Greatest life vision: this is your end goal; the epitaph of your life if you will. If you have multiple greatest life visions you run the risk of not accomplishing any of them because you are always turning from one to the other.

  • Long-term goals: these are the series of goals that take you to the greatest life vision.

  • Medium-term goals: these are a culmination of short term goals.

  • Short-term goals: We have many short-term goals. These are the small steps in the direction of our long term goals.

    • Skills goals: These are the skills needed to accomplish the medium term goals and are one of many short term goals.

    • Kicking habits goals: Anything we need to release to get to the main goal. It too can be a short term goal

If your life vision involves helping a large number of people. Perhaps your long term goal would then be having the time and finances available to do that. Then your medium term goals would involve how to earn the money to allow you to free up time and to have the extra money required for the vision. Maybe that would mean building a business that allows for passive income. Your short term goals then become ensuring that you have the skills and knowledge to carry out that plan.

Moving backward in this way can illuminate what needs to be done sometimes. When we have an overall vision it can sometimes be hard to break it down, but by coming back to the long term, then medium and finally short term goals you set yourself up nicely to get there.
