Empowered Decision Making

the-three-decisions-headerMaking decisions can be a difficult task for many. This is a process that can lead to fear of unknown outcomes or making the 'wrong decision'. What many fail to realize is that when we don't decide on anything, that's a falsity - we're simply deciding not to make any change or take any action. It's still a decision, just one that hasn't been thought through. When we make decisions with as many outcomes as possible considered, we begin to purposefully shape our lives and become empowered. This leads to becoming the person we want to be, maybe the person we've been secretly desiring to be but not confident that it could actually happen. Realizing the power of decision making is the very first step to moving in this direction. It's how we go about changing our lives for the better.Part of making a decision is accepting all of the consequences of that decision, it's about agreeing to the possible outcomes after giving true thought to this- not the fears, but the process of working out what the decision could bring about. How will it affect you, your family, your social circles, your job? Be real, not outlandish in that thinking.Once the decision is made, we need to begin to take steps to bring it into fruition. If we don't follow through with action, we will never realize the change that we are seeking. Breaking down the steps to achieve this is very helpful. Small steps toward the bigger goal is the way to get out of fear mode and into that place where we are empowered.Be flexible with the decision though. This may seem counter-intuitive, however, it means being open to other possibilities. Often when we start down one path we see other options opening for us, maybe better ones than we had thought possible. Being rigid will close our minds to possibilities, perhaps bigger and better things that would be wonderful! These are just a few of the steps to get started on making powerful decisions for a better life. If you find you need help with this sort of process, life coaching is a great resource. Find the right coach for you by meeting someone for a breakthrough session or first time consultation. These are often less expensive than follow up sessions and can be done over the phone, in video meeting or in person so that you can determine if you and the coach are the right fit for each other. Most importantly, get excited about your decisions, become your biggest ally in bringing about change in your life.I'm running a Canada Day Special during the month of July.
