My go to poses for a case of the blues
As you may have noticed while reading my blog, I believe strongly in the power of yoga as a philosophy, a spiritual path and a tool for comfort and contemplation through tough times. Sometimes I write about the tough times, it's one of my ways of purging the demons if you will. The other way is through yoga poses.Yoga asana is an excellent tool for getting out of a funk. My go to poses for feelings akin to sadness specifically is heart opening. When you open up your heart, your are also opening up your anahata or heart chakra. When this chakra is blocked we can experience feelings of loneliness, hurt, an inability to forgive, harsh judgment of others and looking outside of ourselves for acceptance.There are many poses that open the heart chakra. Back-bending and opening the heart chakra are a big help if you need it. As always, practicing safely and breathing through the emotions is important. Ignoring emotions isn't the answer, when we allow the to surface, bring them into the light, we are able to see what they're all about and then let them go.
