When we resist change we allow ourselves to sit in fear. When we push for change just for the sake of change we are not accepting of our circumstances. There’s a balancing point with change. We do not want to change for the sake of change- the grass is always greener on the other side - but when we need to make a change because we are stagnating or because there’s an opportunity for growth we need to have the courage to do so. Any change we make, though, tends to bring about some sort of grief. Even when the outcome is better than what we’ve left behind, we grieve. When we allow ourselves the opportunity to feel that grief, we are in a better position to accept our new circumstances much more quickly. When we take the time to sit with the feelings that come up without judgment we accept each part of the change. We are able to let go of the past and move forward with confidence into the new way of being.In order to grow emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc, change is often necessary. Sometimes we’re asked to make a change blindly, on faith. When we ignore the little voice inside that tells us that we need to make a change, we’re often forced into it. Our relationship falls apart suddenly, we lose a job, or we lose some resource we were expecting. When we look back on these sorts of events we often know in our hearts that they were right for us. If we take the time to really look at the circumstances leading up to the event we are even able to see the all of the times that we had the opportunity to make the change ourselves before it was thrust upon us. Once a change does take place we have the choice to accept it, to embrace it even, or to continue to resist. If we are able recognize that everything is impermanent except who we are at our core - our spirit - we become much more capable of accepting whatever comes our way.
